FOREST AND ENVIRONMENT : Forests in Himachal Pradesh cover an area of 37,947 Sq. Km. and account for 68.16 percent of total geographical area of the state. However, presently 26.4 percent is Forest cover of the total geographical area of the State. The aim of the Forest Department is to enhance the forest cover in the State to 30 percent of its geographical area by 2030 to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Nagar Van Udyan Yojana - “Ek Kadam Hariyali Ki O r” A Programme for Climate Smart Green Cities by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change. The visionof this scheme is to create at least one City Forest in each city having Municipal Corporation for providing wholesome, healthy living environment and contributing to growth of Smart, Clean, Green, Sustainable and Healthy Cities. SUMMARY OF ECONOMIC SURVEY OF HIMACHAL PRADESH 2018-19 (Part I)

The economy of the State is expected to achieve a growth rate of 7.3 percent in the current financial year 2018-19 as compared to 7.0 percent in 2016-17 and 6.5 percent for 2017-18. The Per Capita Income at current prices witnessed a growth of 7.8 percent over 2016-17 and at constant prices (2011-12) an increase of 5.2 percent over 2016-17 Per Capita Income at current prices during 2018-19 has been estimated showing an increase of 10.1 percent against 2017-18 . Sectoral Contribution during 2017-18: The economy has shown a shift from agriculture sector to industries and services as the percentage contribution of agriculture and allied sectors in total State Domestic Product has declined from 57.9% in 1950-51 to 8.8% in 2017-18.
